Welcome to the latest incarnation of my Golden-Zephyr blog. I recently decided to leave my Tumblr blog because of sustained hatred directed at me for being Romani and speaking out. Some things I’d like to make clear here on this blog:

• I do not speak for anyone except myself.

• My experiences are my own and are in no way representative of anyone else’s experiences.

• I grew up in a fairly traditional European Romani family. My languages and traditions may be somewhat different from American Romani, however that does not invalidate my experiences. It only means they are different.

• I am willing to answer any questions about my heritage, my experiences, and my language (as best I can), however I will not act as a spokesperson regarding acceptance of those who are 1/4 Romani or less. That is dependent on your own communities. I am willing, however, to aid you in discovering (as best I can) where your roots might lie. After that, it is up to you to do the work to find out your own heritage.
