Our department (World Languages and Literature) is having a party a week from Friday. All the classes are going to be doing something–singing Christmas songs, doing skits, that kind of thing. Our class is going to sing a Korean New Year song (a Children’s folk song) called 까치 까치 설날은 (the sound file is underneath the lyrics).

[A very rough translation of the lyrics is as follows:
Magpie, Magpie, your New Year was yesterday,
Our, Our, New Year's day I heard it is today.
My precious ribbon I tied it myself,
and I'm wearing brand new shoes.
My older sister's top coat is a yellow coat,
My younger sibling's top coat is many colours.
Father and Mother are living well and
They like to receive our big New Year bow.]
