HomeStay Korea

I found a great service today for anyone traveling (either for a short of longer time) to Korea. It’s called “HomeStay Korea” and allows travelers to arrange to stay with families in the city of their choice. I searched by location, gender and religion and was surprised by the large amount of choice I had. [...]

The inevitable

I’ve been thinking of what is going to happen after I graduate in the fall. I need to either go to graduate school or get a job (or maybe even both~!) Problem is, I’ve no idea what jobs are out there. In order to work for the US government I’d need to be a citizen–which [...]

Everything at once~!

I discovered that I can apply for a research fellowship–as long as I get myself a faculty advisor and research topic (and proposal) ready by the 17th March. @_@ What am I trying to do to myself here? So far, the only topic I have come up with is “Language, identity, and religion—Korean Buddhist Literature [...]

Snow, snow and more snow!

It’s still snowing~! We’re supposed to get another 10″ on top of the remaining 5 or so from the last snow storm (which gave us about a foot). It’s pretty much a white-out right now!! Glad that they canceled my school, that’s for sure!

In other news, I made the Korean Blog List so I’m super [...]

Snow!

Finally we got some decent snow today! It seems everywhere in the world but here is having the worst winter for many years!

It's only a few inches…

We’re supposed to get more on Thursday–here’s hoping for a snow day!!

Today I have made up my mind I’m actually going to study. O_o *gasp* ! I [...]

Happy New Year!!

새해 복 많이 받으세요!

明けましておめでとうございます!

I hope that 2010 is a great year for everyone!!
My resolutions are as follows:

1. Work harder at University (if that’s possible, LOL)
2. Graduate (in December!!!)
3. Study hard and pass the GRE with a good score
4. Get accepted at OSU to study an MA in East Asian Languages and Literature, focusing on Korean.
5. [...]

More news…

I heard more about the Kyung Hee program, and it’s very scary. They only offer the scholarship to cover the tuition fee and the dorm fee. The flights etc are to be paid by us. The scholarship they award (apparently) is awarded to one student from one school. So, that means out of all students [...]

Monday Fog

I have so much to do today, but I am in a total funk. >.< I have to get through these two classes (I did hideously in my Linguistics exam on Friday (an 82 *sob*)) and then I have to run to the Study Abroad office (but I think they’re doing a special thing [...]

There goes that idea…

After I posted that I was seriously going to drop the Japanese for now, several things happen. First, I saw Big Bang’s new video, then I received several emails and comments telling me NOT to. Then, to top it all off, a Korean friend told me they read my blog because they’re learning Japanese…

>.<

So, here [...]

I think I finally decided…

That I’ll drop Japanese altogether for now. There are so many other blogs and so forth dedicated to people learning Japanese and to Japanese things. I don’t think there are that many (that I’ve found) dedicated to Korean. I don’t even know of any K-vloggers on YouTube, whereas it’s filled with a whole slew of [...]
